Music really is the international language!

We know when we have achieved our goal when the spark jumps over to the audience! Our music entertains our guests and is fun for us to make. We practice hard and gather new experiences from numerous performances. That's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun.

The first thing you notice is the lead singer, Gary Bohannon, who fronts the band. He is the percussionist and his vocal range is outstanding! Audiences quickly recognize the unique vocals performed by Gary as he nails the high notes from the likes of Jackie Wilson, Michael Jackson to The Temptations. The Band's make up consists of the great blues style guitarist and vocalist Tico Padayhag; contemporary keyboard player , Paul Craig who orchestrates The sounds of the past..master of all bassists music styles, Michael Riehle, rounds out the musicianship! Darren Green On Drums…provides a lot of versatility..They pride themselves in vocal harmonizing consistent with each song’s blend. These Five experienced musicians provide a smooth sound with musicality second to none.

We are always adding new jumping dance songs not to mention a few sing-along songs. We are always pleasantly satisfied with our song arrangements not to mention the creative elements brought to the table by this group of seasoned musicians. 

We all bring a little something different to the table knowing you’ll enjoy the sounds!

GARY BOHANNON

Lead Vocal, Percussion, Saxophone - Biography

BACKGROUND: Lived and played music professionally, percussion, vocal and now Saxophone in the greater San Joaquin Valley since 1980 and have been performing since I was 16 years old. 
FOCUS:
  • Developed a skill and coordination to drum and sing playing all styles of music.
  • Perform high skill set in all rhythmic types.
  • To be on call to drum/sing any style by ear or written music.
INSTRUMENTS: Vocals; Drums; Congas; Timbales; Percussion; Saxophone

STUDIES: Studied drumming under world renowned George Marsh and Pete Magadini. Both have been published in the magazine Modern Drummer as lead teachers in their field of rhythmic skills and polyrhythms.

CURRENT: Performing with Gary Bohannon and The Bad Habits established in 2010.  

PAST: Performed with THE MUSIC EXCHANGE 1990-2000.  As a member of the JEREMIAH HAZE BAND we won two ‘battle of the band’ contests when I was in high school. I went on tour in my 20s with a local 10 piece band, LAY BACH, to Tahoe and Canada fronted as Lead Singer. I played locally with the DELTA JAZZ BAND.

TICO PADAYHAG

Guitar and Vocal – Biography

Born Patricio Padayhag Jr, named after his father, but known by his family and friends as “Tico”, a nickname that has stuck with him since he was two years old, never became serious about playing the guitar until after completing his tour of military service, as a Corpsman in the Marine Corp, during the Vietnam era. He returned to Stockton to work and attend college.


He started playing guitar again alongside local area musicians and bands before enrolling in college. While attending the University of Pacific, he joined a small combo that played for college socials and dance parties. He stopped playing in bands after college to concentrate on raising a family, playing guitar only for family and church functions. He never completely stopped playing the guitar. He continued to polish his guitar skills while listening to recordings of his favorite musicians.

Local artists that have influenced his style were musicians like Richard Goldie, Greg Barker and Benji Teczon. He was also influenced by recording artist the likes of George Benson, Eric Clapton, Santana, BB King, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray, Jeff Colub and Bruce Conte, to name a few.

He played lead guitar for a local horn band ReUnion/Bump City for two years. During that time he shared the stage with Mic Gillette of Tower of Power, Stevie “Keys” Rossman, one of the keyboard players for Journey and Bar Kays. He has partnered with Gary Bohannon, the leader of Bad Habits, for almost thirteen years, but still having the time to fit in playing with ReUnion/Bump City. His son Eric, has recently joined the band playing keyboard adding a fresh sound to the music of The Bad Habits. The combination of having two keyboards to the band has added a new dimension to the sound.

MICHAEL RIEHLE

Bass and Vocal - Biography

Michael has been playing bass for more than forty years. His experience includes bands in the San Francisco Bay Area such as Live! Dressed! Girls! and Allnightmusic. In the Central Valley he's played with No Drama and The Silver Rockers among others. Over the years he's been asked to substitute for bands including Jeramy Norris and The Cocktail Monkeys. He's played a variety of music including Rock, Pop, Country, Motown, R&B, and Disco.
From playing in a small blues club to playing in a mega church or driving a 75 piece horn Drum & Bugle Corps, Randy Coss is now one of Gary Bohannon’s Bad Habits. He is a versatile drummer who has played for many years in the San Joaquin Valley.
